Android Common Libraries

In this work, we leverage a dataset comprising approximately 1.5 million applications sourced from Google Play to collect potential public libraries, including advertising libraries. Following multiple refinement steps, we ultimately assembled the largest known set to date: 1,113 libraries supporting common functional features and 240 advertising-focused libraries. We use this dataset to investigate several key aspects of Android libraries, including their prevalence within the ecosystem and their proportional distribution across Android application codebases. Leveraging this curated dataset, we further conducted a series of empirical studies to validate the core motivations behind our work.
