2-Chloronicotinic acid is a critically important pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediate. As a pharmaceutical intermediate, it is used for the synthesis of nicomfenamic acid, nicoflumic acid, and other related compounds; as an agrochemical intermediate, it is employed in the synthesis of nicosulfuron, diflufenican, and other agrochemical products. 2-Chloronicotinic acid is typically synthesized via hydrolysis of 2-chloronicotinonitrile with sodium hydroxide, followed by acidification with hydrochloric acid. During this synthetic process, inorganic salts such as sodium chloride may remain in the final product, which adversely affects the product's quality. Analysis of inorganic salts in 2-chloronicotinic acid products serves as one of the key indicators for evaluating compound content and purity, and also provides assurance for quality control of downstream products. For 2-chloronicotinic acid products manufactured by enterprises, the inorganic salt content (mainly sodium chloride) is tested via potentiometric titration using AgNO3 standard solution after sampling.
