With the Communication, Localization and Surveillance (CLS) technology, moving road users can be detected by transmitting V2X radio signals at intersections. The concept behind this is called wireless sensing and is based on the propagation properties of radio waves that are reflected and scattered by objects. With CLS technology, baseband data (pulse responses) are recorded at four receiving antennas.
As part of the VIDETEC project, the CLS system was installed at a test intersection and a first data set was collected to record road users. Parallel reference systems (GNSS-RTK and laser scanners) document the data collection and allow validation and pre-processing for later use of the data set. During several days of use of the CLS system at the test intersection, the baseband raw data were measured in different configurations and traffic scenarios.
