Method of producing a high-volume foamed substrate involves producing a water-based foam containing at least 1??% by weight of crimped synthetic fibers and at least 1??% by weight of binder fibers; formation of wet sheet from water-based foam; and drying wet sheet to produce foamed substrate. Substrate comprises water-based polymer foam containing at least 1??% by weight of crimped synthetic fiber and at least 1??% by weight of binder fiber， note here that said substrate does not contain super-absorbent material.
