<b>Gender stereotypes on illness Dataset</b>

Media have been long criticized for gendered reporting of a variety of health issues. Little research, however, has explored the cognitive manifestations of media biases on gender and health (<i>aka</i> gender stereotypes) and their profound health implications. Using implicit association tests, this online experimental survey research (<i>N</i> = 268) reveals that gender stereotypes on mental and physical illness interact with individuals’ gender identities in affecting their emotional reactions to patients with these illnesses as well their intent to help these patients. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
