The dataset developed in this study comprises two parts: Voronoi artificial grains and ExONE 316L stainless steel grains. Voronoi artificial grains are generated via mathematical methods, which simulate the morphology and distribution of grains to supplement machine learning training data. The ExONE 316L stainless steel grain dataset is derived from actual 3D printing and optical microscopy imaging, containing 480 manually segmented grain images for training and validating machine learning models. This dataset provides a critical resource for metallic material analysis and characterization, particularly in the field of metal additive manufacturing, enabling rapid evaluation of grain structures as well as prediction and certification of material properties.
