This study explores the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in detecting cultural misunderstandings in English–Uzbek foreign language learning. Cultural misunderstandings often stem from differences in pragmatic norms, politeness strategies, and sociocultural expectations. Drawing on intercultural pragmatics, second language acquisition theory, and educational technology, the article examines how AI-based tools using natural language processing and machine learning can identify pragmatic mismatches in learner discourse. The study argues that AI-assisted detection enhances learners’ pragmatic competence and intercultural awareness. Pedagogical implications for English language teaching in Uzbekistan are discussed.

本研究探讨了人工智能(AI)在英语-乌兹别克语外语学习中的文化误解检测应用。文化误解往往源自语用规范、礼貌策略与社会文化期待的差异。本研究依托跨文化语用学、第二语言习得理论及教育技术框架,考察了采用自然语言处理(natural language processing)与机器学习(machine learning)技术的AI工具如何识别学习者话语中的语用失配现象。研究表明,AI辅助检测能够有效提升学习者的语用能力与跨文化意识。本文还讨论了该研究对乌兹别克斯坦英语教学的教学法启示。
