Data from: Fish trap manipulation: a novel foraging behavior by bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus)

Video monitoring of artisanal fish traps in Jamaica demonstrated a new foraging behaviour, with bottlenose dolphins extracting fish from manipulated traps. Sharing of trap manipulation behaviour among individuals may suggest social learning, which could enhance the spread of this behavior within populations. These observations provide an example of how a species with sophisticated cognitive abilities may be able to learn to exploit resources introduced by humans possibly placing them at the forefront of human-wildlife conflict.对牙买加地区手工鱼笼开展的视频监测，记录到一种全新的觅食行为：宽吻海豚（bottlenose dolphins）会从被人为改动的鱼笼中获取鱼类。个体间共享鱼笼操作行为的现象，或暗示社会学习机制的存在，这或可推动该行为在种群内的传播。本次观测结果展示了具备复杂认知能力的物种如何学会利用人类引入的生存资源，而这一现象或使其率先陷入人兽冲突的局面。
