To acquire a better understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of adult UC, we performed mRNA microarray studies to compare gene expression of UC patients to that of normal subjects. A significant difference was observed in mRNA expression between UC and normal. Overall design: Mucosal biopsy samples (87 UC and 21 normal) were collected for RNA extraction and microarray analysis.
