Data from the National Archives hackathon

The National Archives do their hackathon and launch a series of challenges from some of their archives related to the issues of the City and the citizen.
It is, for amateurs and developers anxious to act for the society in which they live, a unique opportunity to “have fun” with extraordinary funds while contributing to the common interest by promoting the dissemination of 14 centuries of state archives.
Out of the millions of data held at the National Archives, eight datasets on citizen and societal themes were selected so that each team could seize, appropriate and offer tools to share content.

**Challenges of the hackathon:**

1. The citizen in the honor
Optimise the base of the Legion of Honour and facilitate its access to citizens

2. Acts of the citizen, citizen in deeds
Analyse and visualise the archives of the notaries of Paris (XVII — 20th centuries)

3. Politics speaks to the citizen
Decipher and analyse political discourse

4. RTFM! Read the French Mountain!
Understanding the evolution of the mountain landscape through photography

5. They became French citizens
Simplifying access to naturalisation decrees

6. The keys to access to fourteen centuries of history
Optimise the use of all inventories of the National Archives

7. Archives in the data web
Improve the use of National Archives repositories, promote their interoperability

8. Archive entry observatory
Optimise the monitoring and visualisation of the annual entries register
