PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS FOR THE STACY/O.H. IVIE RESERVOIR PROJECT, TEXAS

Phytolith analysis was undertaken at eleven sites in the Stacy/O.H. Ivie Reservoir Project Area. The purpose of this analysis was to determine the feasibility of recovering a sufficient quantity of phytoliths to recommend a paleoenvironmental study from both feature and stratigraphic contexts in the project area. Within the confines of limited number of samples per site, results are presented. Data generated from this phytolith study will also be used elsewhere to compare with the pollen record. Phytolith samples represent feature associations, as well as stratigraphic profiles, although most of the samples submitted for this testing phase analysis represent feature contexts.本研究于斯泰西/O.H.艾维水库项目区（Stacy/O.H. Ivie Reservoir Project Area）的11处遗址开展了植硅体（Phytolith）分析。本次分析的核心目标为评估从该项目区的遗迹与地层遗存背景中获取足量植硅体，进而开展古环境研究的可行性。鉴于各遗址采样数量有限，本研究呈现了相关分析结果。本次植硅体研究所生成的数据，后续还将用于与孢粉记录（pollen record）开展对比研究。本次分析的植硅体样品涵盖遗迹组合与地层剖面，不过本测试阶段分析所提交的样品大多属于遗迹遗存背景。
