Nature Exposure May Reduce Cigarette Smoking

We tested the assumption that exposure to natural versus urban landscapes can induce lower discounting and empower the viewer to smoke less. This hypothesis was supported by our findings, indicating that participants viewing pictures of natural scenes exhibited a lower discounting tendency, smoked less, and were more likely to refrain from smoking compared with participants viewing pictures of urban scenes and control participants.本研究验证了如下假设：相较于城市景观，接触自然景观可降低个体的延迟折扣（discounting）倾向，并促使观看者减少吸烟量。研究结果支持该假设，具体表现为：与观看城市景观图片的被试及对照组被试相比，观看自然场景图片的被试展现出更低的延迟折扣倾向，吸烟量更少，且更倾向于克制吸烟。
