<b>Main idea of the research project:</b>In summary, we take advantage of microfossil ostracodes and use them to investigate:1. Deep-sea ostracode assemblage in the WPWP (IAA biodiversity hotspot).2. The impact of the ITF restriction on the deep-sea ecosystem in the equatorial Indian Ocean.3. The biotic response of ostracodes to the epicontinental sea-shallow marine shift of the river mouth region of the Sepik River of Papua New Guinea in the Pleistocene.4. The biotic response of deep-sea ostracodes to the alternation of the dominated water mass in the deep equatorial Pacific Ocean at the Pliocene-Pleistocene boundary.<br>The results of this project will help us better understand the relationship between climate and marine ecosystems in the world biodiversity center.<b>Detailed description on the data:</b>The core sample collected from the IODP 363 Western Pacific Warm Pool were processed in the lab. we picked out, sorted and identified the ostracode microfossil from the sediments. We compute the total abundance and relative abundance of each genus of ostracode. This file includes these total/relative abundance data, also the core depth and age data for the plottug and statical analysis. This dataset is used to create the total/ relative abundance against water depth plots and the NMDS analysis in my Mphil thesis.

本研究项目核心思路:简言之,本研究借助微体古生物介形类(ostracodes)开展以下研究:1. 西太平洋暖池(WPWP,IAA生物多样性热点区域)的深海介形类组合特征;2. 印度尼西亚贯穿流(ITF)受限对赤道印度洋深海生态系统的影响;3. 更新世时期巴布亚新几内亚塞皮克河河口区域陆表海-浅海变迁对介形类的生物响应;4. 上新世-更新世交界期赤道太平洋深海主导水团交替对深海介形类的生物响应。本项目的研究成果将有助于我们更深入地理解全球生物多样性中心内气候与海洋生态系统之间的关联。数据集详细说明:本研究对国际大洋发现计划(Integrated Ocean Drilling Program, IODP)363航次西太平洋暖池区域获取的岩芯样品开展实验室处理,从沉积物中分选、挑取并鉴定介形类微体化石。计算各介形类属的总丰度与相对丰度。本文件包含上述总丰度、相对丰度数据,以及用于绘图与统计分析的岩芯深度与年代数据。本数据集用于在本人的哲学硕士(Master of Philosophy, Mphil)学位论文中绘制总丰度/相对丰度与水深的关系图,并开展非度量多维标度(Non-metric Multidimensional Scaling, NMDS)分析。
