Identification of the phase II and II' propagation vectors in Ce3Pd20Ge6
收藏资源简介:
At zero magnetic field the Ce3Pd20Ge6 heavy-fermion compound exhibits two magnetically ordered phases II and III. Powder neutron diffraction identified the phase III as an AFM phase. The ferroquadrupolar (FQ) phase II was suggested by means of sound velocity measurements. Because neutrons do not couple to the quadrupolar moments, the FQ phase transition was not identified in previous measurements at zero field. External magnetic field induces dipolar and octupolar moments, which can be probed with neutrons. In the case of Ce3Pd20Ge6 identification of the propagation vector of the FQ phase is hindered by the fact that the possible elastic magnetic signal overlaps with the position of the structural Bragg peaks. In this proposal we would like to measure the magnetic field dependence of the observed collective modes in Ce3Pd20Ge6, to understand the nature of the phase II ->II' transition
