Frog microRNAs associated with antiviral responses

microRNAs regulate antiviral immunity in vertebrates, yet the roles of frog microRNAs in regulating antiviral responses remain uncharacterized. We sequenced small RNA libraries generated from a Xenopus laevis skin epithelial-like cell line that was uninfected, treated with the viral mimic poly(I:C), or infected with the immunoevasive ranavirus Frog virus 3. This project shed light on the roles of frog microRNAs in responding to viral infection, and sheds light on microRNA-mediated mechanisms of immunoevasion by ranaviruses.
