Hyphal DNA was isolated from a monokaryon(Trametes cingulata strain TCM6)grown in liquid malt extract medium. Mitochondrial DNA was remove by centrifugation in CsCl and bizbenzamide. Trametes cingulata is a wood-rotting polypore basidiomycete. These fungi are ecologically important because of the role they play in the global carbon cycle and are potential sources of enzymes useful in the production of biofuels.
