To investigate the synergistic contributions of the host plant and its root microbiome to NAFC degradation in constructed wetland treatment systems (CWTSs), we performed metatranscriptomic sequencing of <i>Typha latifolia</i> roots collected from mesocosms actively degrading NAFCs. This approach allowed us to capture shifts in both microbial and plant functional gene expression associated with effective OSPW bioremediation.
