Gene expression study in Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 knockout mouse stratum during aging

Multiple mutations in Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 gene are associated with familial forms of late onset Parkinson s disease. Interestingly, Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 is abundant in the dopaminoceptive striatal spiny projection neurons. Since aging is the most important risk factor for Parkinson s disease and other neuronal degenerative diseases, the exploration of gene expression alterations in the Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 knockout mouse stratum during aging will provide the evidence and mechanisms of the Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 modulates the aging of the dopaminoceptive striatal spiny projection neurons .
