Using the MODIS 8-day surface reflectance data (MOD09Q1, MYD09Q1) from 2014 to 2017 and the improved global 30-meter FROM-GLC water layer in 2010, we have produced the data set for the typical global lakes (including Poyang Lake, Aral Sea, Lake Victoria and Lake Venant, the Great Lakes, Lake Titicaca and Lake Eyre) with 500 m resolution every 8 days from 2014 to 2017 by using the spectral characteristics of water body. The data range of this data set is 1-46. 1 indicates that the area has been flooded for 8 days in a year, 2 indicates that the area has been flooded for 16 days in a year and 46 indicates that the area has been flooded for the whole year. Larger data value indicates more flooded days.
