Structure and self-organization of conducting polymers in ultrathin films

The proposed experiment aims to study Langmuir monolayers based on four poly(3-alkyl thiophene) having pendent chains with different lengths and bearing different end-groups. The objective is to investigate the out of plane structure of these films spread at the air-water interface by means of XRR. In parallel, the surface concentration of monomers will be assessed using X-ray fluorescence. Correlation between chemical structure and organization at the air-water interface could thus be achieved in ultrathin films of conducting polymers.
