SRFME Ocean Colour data - OffShore, Southern Surveyor SS 01/2004

The data were collected at 5 stations on the RV Southern Surveyor SS 01/2004 voyage in January 2004. The data were collected to determine the bio-optical charateristics of this region. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation. Parameters measured absorption coefficients of phytoplankton phytoplankton (aph) and non-algal or detrital matter (ad) in discrete sea-water samples, determined using a laboratory spectrophotometer. Also concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments were measured by High Performance Liquid Chromatography of pigments in discrete sea-water samples using the method of Van Heukelmen and Thomas 2001.This data was part of Strategic Research Fund for the Marine Environment (SRFME) project where samples were collected from Two Rocks offshore transect from coastal to offshore stations at five sites (A-E) during (Feb 2002 - Dec 2004). These sites were also sampled during Southern Surveyor Voyages SS07/2003, SS01/2004. Note sites A and B were the same locations from the Two Rocks coastal transect identified as T1 and T6 respectively in Marlin record 6819 SRFME Ocean Colour data. Microphytobenthos samples were collected at sites where Martin Lourey worked. Note that this record contains data for Voyage SS01/2004 only.本数据集采集于2004年1月的“南方调查者号（RV Southern Surveyor）”SS 01/2004航次的5个站位。本次数据采集旨在探明该海域的生物光学特性，可用于海洋水色传感器的性能验证。实测参数包含：借助实验室分光光度计，对离散海水样品中的浮游植物（phytoplankton）吸收系数（aph）以及非藻类碎屑物质吸收系数（ad）进行测定所得的结果。此外，采用Van Heukelmen与Thomas 2001年提出的方法，通过高效液相色谱法（High Performance Liquid Chromatography）对离散海水样品中的叶绿素与类胡萝卜素色素浓度进行测定。本数据集隶属于海洋环境战略研究基金（Strategic Research Fund for the Marine Environment, SRFME）项目，该项目于2002年2月至2004年12月期间，在Two Rocks近海断面从近岸到远岸的5个站位（A-E）采集了样品。上述站位同样在“南方调查者号”SS07/2003、SS01/2004航次中完成了采样。需注意：站位A与B分别对应Two Rocks近岸断面在Marlin记录6819 SRFME海洋水色数据中标记为T1与T6的采样点位。底栖微型藻类（Microphytobenthos）样品采集于Martin Lourey开展工作的站位。需注意：本数据集仅包含SS01/2004航次的相关数据。
