Botswana is a hyperspectral image classification dataset. NASA's EO-1 satellite acquired a series of data over the Okavango Delta in Botswana during 2001–2004. The Hyperion sensor onboard EO-1 collected data with a 30 m pixel resolution across a 7.7 km swath, covering 242 spectral bands spanning the 400–2500 nm spectral range with 10 nm windows. Data preprocessing was conducted by the UT Space Research Center to mitigate the impacts of faulty detectors, inter-detector calibration errors, and intermittent anomalies. Uncalibrated and noisy bands covering water absorption features were removed, and the remaining 145 bands with the ranges [10–55, 82–97, 102–119, 134–164, 187–220] were included as candidate features. The data analyzed in this study was acquired on May 31, 2001, and includes observations from 14 identified classes representing land cover types in seasonal swamps, occasional swamps, and drier woodlands located in the distal part of the delta.
