Sub‑surface gelatinous zooplankton assemblages and their seasonality in two Northwestern Icelandic fjords

This data set contains information about near-surface (about 10 m depth) gelatinous zooplankton assemblages and their seasonal changes from two neighbouring Northwestern Icelandic fjords, which were studied from April to September 2008. At five stations, horizontal Bongo net (mesh size: 500 µm, mouth opening: 0.3 m²) tows were performed regularly with a small motor boat at a towing speed of about 3 kn. In total, 12235 specimens of 14 species (ten hydromedusae, two scyphomedusae, one ctenophore) were collected. The total abundance of gelatinous zooplankton increased from April to June, while scyphomedusa and ctenophore abundances decreased towards September.本数据集涵盖冰岛西北部两座相邻峡湾的近表层（约10米水深）凝胶状浮游动物群落及其季节变化相关研究数据，相关野外调查于2008年4月至9月期间开展。本研究在5个站位使用小型摩托艇，以约3节的拖曳速度定期开展水平邦戈网（Bongo net）采样作业，该网具参数为网孔尺寸500微米、网口面积0.3平方米。总计采集得到14个物种类群的12235号个体，其中包括10种水螅水母（hydromedusae）、2种钵水母（scyphomedusae）以及1种栉水母（ctenophore）。凝胶状浮游动物总丰度在4月至6月间逐步上升，而钵水母与栉水母的丰度则随时间推移至9月逐渐下降。
