Photos and measurements of otoliths from fish caught in the southern part of the North Sea

Photos and measurements of otoliths from fish caught in the southern part of the North Sea is a photo dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains photos of fish otoliths – taken by a binocular microscope on a black background and edited to include a ruler – and measurement/reference data for these otoliths and fish. The dataset can be used as reference data to identify fish species in the southern part of the North Sea based on their otoliths, e.g. dietary/food ecology research of seabirds. Files reference_data.csv: Fish information (scientific name, sampling information, length) and otolith measurements (width/height). Each row corresponds to a fish, which fish_id can be found in the otolith photo name. Scientific name.zip: Photos of otoliths, grouped by species. Photo names are of the form fish_id_suffix.jpg, where suffix indicates if it was a left (Lx) or right (Rx) sagittal otolith or a smaller lapillus/asteriscus (Bx) otolith.采自北海南部海域鱼类的耳石影像与测量数据，是由自然与森林研究所（Research Institute for Nature and Forest, INBO）发布的影像数据集。 该数据集包含鱼类耳石影像——通过双目显微镜在黑色背景下拍摄，并经编辑添加了标尺——以及对应耳石与鱼类的测量/参考数据。本数据集可作为参考数据，用于基于耳石识别北海南部海域的鱼类物种，例如可应用于海鸟的饮食/食物生态学研究。 文件reference_data.csv：包含鱼类信息（学名、采样信息、体长）以及耳石测量数据（宽度/高度）。每一行对应一条鱼类，其fish_id可在耳石影像文件名中获取。 Scientific name.zip：按物种分组的耳石影像压缩包。影像文件名格式为fish_id_suffix.jpg，其中suffix用于标识该耳石为左侧（Lx）或右侧（Rx）矢状耳石，或是较小的微耳石/星耳石（Bx）。
