Abundance and biomass of infaunal species as part of Essential fish habitat surveys, Co. Down Coast (Northern Ireland) 2012-2013.

This dataset contains information on infaunal abundance and biomass from sediment grab samples off the Co. Down coast in Northern Ireland as part of an Essesntial Fish Habitat (EFH) project. Essential Fish Habitat is defined as “those waters & substrata necessary to fish for spawning, breeding, feeding or growth to maturity” and these can help to form a basis for the designation of Marine Protected Areas such as Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs). This survey was carried out on the RV Corystes in 2012 and 2013 off the Co. Down coast using a 0.1m2 day grab. In 2012 there were 88 samples taken. In 2013 there were 48 samples. Infaunal analysis, Particle Size Analysis (PSA) and Carbon & Nitrogen analysis were carried out on all samples.本数据集收录了北爱尔兰唐郡（Co. Down）沿海海域沉积物抓取采样所获的底内生物丰度与生物量数据，相关工作作为重要鱼类栖息地（Essential Fish Habitat, EFH）项目的一部分开展。重要鱼类栖息地被定义为“鱼类产卵、繁育、觅食以及生长至成熟所需的水域与底质环境”，此类栖息地可作为划定海洋保护区（如海洋保护区域Marine Conservation Zones, MCZs）的核心依据。本次调查于2012年与2013年依托研究船RV Corystes，在唐郡沿海海域采用面积为0.1平方米的采泥抓取装置完成采样，其中2012年共采集样本88份，2013年共采集48份。所有样本均开展了底内生物分析、粒度分析（Particle Size Analysis, PSA）以及碳氮元素分析。
