VPRS 12244 Reports and Proceedings of Interstate Conferences

Commonwealth and State Ministers Conferences, more commonly known as Premiers Conferences were held on an annual basis as a forum for discussion between the Commonwealth - represented by the Prime Minister, and the Premiers of each State. The convention discussed issues relating to the co-ordination of Commonwealth and State powers. Such issues included Commonwealth finance and taxation and its appropriation by the States, the co-ordination of Commonwealth and State legislation, and Commonwealth and State defence strategies.This series consists of published transcripts of these conferences, which were maintained by the Secretary of the Premiers Department.
