Raw Materials and the World Market, 1947-1976

The purposes of the study were: #1) to create a data base containing statistical information about the period 1947-1976 and all the countries in the world concerning a) production, b) export, c) import, and d) consumption of 9 of the most important raw materials, i.e. coffee, tea, cocoa, sugar, cotton, rubber, lead, copper, and zinc; #2) to establish raw material models based on the data base in order to test a number of hypotheses concerning the role of these raw materials in the world trade in the same period; #3) and, finally, the study includes prognoses on future structures of raw material supplies and resources. #Thus, the study has four dimensions: country, year, raw material, and activity本研究的研究目标如下：其一，构建覆盖1947年至1976年时段及全球所有国家的统计数据库，该数据库收录四类核心统计信息：a) 产量、b) 出口量、c) 进口量、d) 9种最重要原材料的消费量，具体包括咖啡、茶叶、可可、食糖、棉花、橡胶、铅、铜及锌；其二，基于该数据库构建原材料分析模型，用以检验一系列关于同期此类原材料在世界贸易中所扮演角色的假说；其三，本研究最终还包含针对原材料供应与资源未来结构的预测分析。综上，本研究涵盖四大维度：国家、年份、原材料及活动类型。
