"Enhanced pan-Arctic AVHRR land surface temperature dataset (1km spatial resolution)"
收藏资源简介:
"Land surface temperature (LST) is an Essential Climate Variable critical for monitoring land–atmosphere interactions and climate change, particularly in the rapidly warming Arctic. This dataset provides a 42-year (1981–2023) pan-Arctic LST record at 1 km spatial resolution for regions north of 50°N, derived from thermal infrared observations acquired by AVHRR sensors onboard the NOAA and MetOp satellite series. The native ~4 km AVHRR Global Area Coverage (GAC) data are downscaled to 1 km using a deep learning–based super-resolution approach based on a deep anisotropic diffusion model, trained on MODIS LST data and guided by high-resolution ancillary datasets. Cloud-contaminated observations are filtered using the CLARA-A3 probabilistic cloud mask. This dataset provides twice-daily LST observations and is validated against multiple in situ measurement networks (SURFRAD, ARM, KIT, and selected Arctic stations from BSRN). It supports applications in permafrost modelling, near-surface air temperature reconstruction, and Arctic climate monitoring, while extending high-resolution observations into the pre-MODIS era.More information can be found in Dupuis et al.: Four decades of circumpolar super-resolved satellite land surface temperature data, 2025, ArXiv."
