SM2RAIN-ASCAT (2007-2020): global monthly satellite rainfall from ASCAT soil moisture

<strong>SM2RAIN-ASCAT is a new global scale rainfall product</strong> obtained from ASCAT satellite soil moisture data through the SM2RAIN algorithm (<em>Brocca et al., 2014; 2019</em>). The SM2RAIN-ASCAT monthly rainfall dataset (in mm) is obtained from the daily dataset (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.2591214) through spatial interpolation at 0.25-degree and 0.5-degree resolution to facilitate its use for long-term hydrological and climatic studies (and applications). The rainfall dataset is provided in NetCDF format.
