This research explores why chemotherapy often fails to control metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC) after spreading to organs like the liver or lungs. Using mouse models, the study found that chemotherapy drugs can reshape nerve networks that mediate the ‘fight or flight’ response. These nerves grow denser and thicker during treatment. Blocking nerve activity improves chemotherapy control of mTNBC. These results suggest that combining nerve-targeting therapies with chemotherapy could help overcome treatment resistance and save more lives in this hard-to-treat cancer.
