Samples were collected from microbial mats developed nearby three abandoned drillings from the Chiraleu, Ciocaia and Mihai Bravu villages (Romania), at temperatures ranging from 20 to 65 oC. The aim was to characterize the prokaryotic composition and diversity, and to explore their relationship with the physico-chemical properties of the water.
