Concentrations of source-specific lipid biomarkers including certain highly branched isoprenoids (HBIs; e.g. IP25, HBI III, HBI IV) and sterols (dinosterols, brassicasterol). By combining IP25 concentrations with those of the pelagic biomarker HBI III, we provide semi-quantitative spring sea-ice reconstruction (SpSIC (%)). Further, the HBI T25 index, derived from the ratio between HBIs III and IV.
