Angola (2006): MAP Study to evaluate coverage and quality of coverage of "Joia" bednets in Luanda Province

PSI/Angola carried out Project MAP to establish baseline data on coverage of and quality of access to Joia and other ITNs and untreated nets supplied via the private sector in Luanda. The results will inform all aspects of the marketing mix for Joia. The proposed project MAP study is a cross-sectional study that aims at collecting baseline coverage data and at setting benchmarks for future study rounds. The component on coverage and access of nets are a typical phase I and II study of project MAP. The proposed study will be repeated on a yearly basis to monitor progress and identify supervision areas and monitoring indicators that are below specified benchmarks. the municipalities will be considered as the primary sampling unit. We would like to get a representative picture of coverage for each of the 10 supervision area. The sampling will thus be stratified by these municipalities. In each municipalities will be selected a number of 19 residential area to be audited. The supervision area will be selected randomly from the list provided by Governmental institution. As a result, the total sample size will be 171 residential area and 19 commercial area
