中国南极长城气象站（62°.13’ S , 58°.58’ W, 10 m）建成于1985年2月，位于西南极的乔治王岛，站号为89058。目前在长城气象站按地面气象观测规范要求进行常规气象观测, 白天守班, 随时监测和记录天气变化。每天进行四次定时地面气象观测(北京时01、07、13、19时),编制气象电报,其时间比国内提前一小时（邻近的南极站均如此），通过智利弗雷气象中心将资料传入全球电信系统
