Mary Allport (1806-1895) was one of Australia's earliest woman artists and her collection of around 200 watercolours, drawings and etchings are unique early examples of colonial painting. She was the first colonial woman lithographer, etcher and engraver, and this collection is mainly a result of the 1965 bequest by her great-grandson.
