The researcher obtained research permit number 000.9/1826 in 2023 and received authorization from the Medan City Government to analyze and publish this data.<b>Interpretation:</b>This table presents data on business licence ownership across 21 districts in the city of Medan. It categorises individuals as those who own business licenses ("yes") and those who do not ("no") with a total count for each district.<b>Key Insights:</b><br><b>Overall Business License Ownership</b>:<b>7,034 individuals</b> (7.80%) have registered business licences.<b>83,157 individuals</b> (92.20%) do not own business licences.<b>Districts with the Highest Business License Ownership</b>:<b>Medan Tuntungan</b>: 3,078 licences issued (43.77% of total licence owners).<b>Medan Tembung</b>: 2,170 licenses (30.86%).<b>Medan Area</b>: 820 licences (11.66%).<b>Districts with the Lowest Business License Ownership</b>:<b>Medan Labuhan</b>: two licenses (0.03%).<b>Medan Maimun</b>: 2 licences (0.03%).<b>Medan Belawan</b>: 3 licences (0.04%).<b>General Trend</b>:The distribution suggests that certain districts, such as<b> Medan Tuntungan and Medan Tembung, have a significantly higher number of registered businesses</b>, possibly due to economic activity or local policies that encourage formalisation.Meanwhile, districts like <b>Medan Labuhan and Medan Belawan have virtually very few registered businesses</b>, which may indicate challenges in business regulation or a predominance of informal enterprises.<b>Potential Research Implications</b>:<b>Entrepreneurship Formalisation:</b> The low percentage of registered businesses suggests potential barriers to formal business registration.<b>District-Level Economic Activity:</b> The variations in licence ownership may reflect differences in commercial density across districts.<b>Policy considerations:</b> Understanding why certain districts have greater license ownership could help shape local regulations that incentivise formal business registration.<br>
