This paper provides a comprehensive review of the published literature on bamboo natural fiber, focusing on its potential as a viable reinforcement for bio-composites. Bio-composites, which incorporate lignocellulosic fibers as reinforcement within a polymer matrix, are emerging both as an effective and sustainable solution to address the growing issue of plastic waste. With an increase in global environmental concerns, there is now an increasing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable materials. Numerous researchers have systematically investigated the use of bamboo fiber, derived from bamboo plants, as a promising reinforcement material. However, there does exist variations in extraction methods, choice of polymer matrices, processing routes, and material characterization techniques. This paper synthesizes the available information on several key aspects to include the following: (i) bamboo fiber extraction methods, (ii) bio-composite processing routes, and (iii) bio-composite characterization techniques. The collection of information does aim at enhancing the prevailing understanding of bamboo fiber-reinforced bio-composites while concurrently highlighting their potential applications.
