MicroMelt - Metagenomics of an Arctic glacier surface

Arctic glacier surfaces host diverse and abundant microbial life, but are changing rapidly as they experience rapidly warming climates. Little is known about the community structure, function, and dynamics of microbes inhabiting the ice surface. Within this study we use shotgun metagenomics to provide insights into the diversity and functionality of microbes from different components of a Svalbard glacier surface.
