Tobacco belongs to the genus *Nicotiana* of the Solanaceae family, order Tubiflorae, class Dicotyledoneae. During long-term cultivation, diverse tobacco types have emerged due to differences in usage requirements, curing methods, cultivation measures, and natural environmental conditions. These types can be categorized into flue-cured tobacco, air-cured tobacco (including aromatic tobacco, cigar tobacco, and sun-cured yellow tobacco), Maryland tobacco, burley tobacco, yellow tobacco, and wild tobacco, among others. Flue-cured tobacco is the primary cultivated tobacco type globally. Yunnan Province mainly cultivates flue-cured tobacco, while also developing small-scale plantations of aromatic tobacco, cigar tobacco, and sun-cured yellow tobacco concurrently. The annual flue-cured tobacco output of Yunnan Province has long ranked first in China. Meanwhile, as a typical producing area for sweet and clean-flavored flue-cured tobacco, Yunnan's flue-cured tobacco holds a dominant position in China's cigarette formulation, with its proportion staying above 40% for many years, against the backdrop that flue-cured tobacco has become the core formula material leading the mainstream style of Chinese-style cigarettes. The development of the tobacco industry plays a critical role in boosting Yunnan Province's fiscal revenue and farmers' income growth.
