AOMC: 30-m Resolution Apple Orchard Maps of China (2019-2021)

This dataset provides 30-m spatial resolution apple orchard maps (20) for 13 provinces in China including Shaanxi (SAX, 31.11 %), Gansu (GS, 12.47 %), Shandong (SD, 12.37 %), Shanxi (SX, 7.24 %), Liaoning (LN, 6.99 %), Hebei (HB, 6.77 %), Henan (HN, 5.90 %), Xinjiang (XJ, 3.48 %), Yunnan (YN, 2.74 %), Sichuan (SC, 2.29 %), Inner Mongolia (IM, 2.08 %), Ningxia (NX, 1.43 %), Jiangsu (JS, 1.43 %)). The mapped areas constitute over 96% of the apple orchard area in China.(1) Methodology and performanceUtilizing available Landsat-8 and Sentinel datasets, along with multi-source data including geographic information, remote sensing products, and meteorological data, we integrated various phenological conditions of apples in China to generate the first national-scale distribution map of apple orchards in China (AOMC) with a 30 m spatial resolution. Validations against field sample data and agricultural statistical data demonstrated the maps were in high accuracy.(2) Dataset informationThe dataset is provided in geotif (*.tif) format with pixel values of 1 for apple and 0 for non-apple.
