Yaavi

Yaavi is a documentary resulting from research conducted by Dr. Itandehui Jansen in collaboration with Armando Bautista García at the Leiden University between 2013 and 2015 within the ERC-funded project ‘Time in Intercultural Context’. The output consists of a short 20 minute documentary, set in Mexico and filmed in Mixtec (an indigenous language from Mexico). The project investigates how film can express Indigenous concepts with regard to the relation between human subjects and their environment. The project builds on research into Indigenous narrative traditions in the Oaxaca region, which is also discussed in a chapter contribution (Appendix A).
