The Department of Sustainability and Environment is Victoria's primarygovernment agency responsible for promoting and managing the sustainability ofthe natural environment. The Department's primary functions are: • public land stewardship across forests, parks, coasts, alpine resorts andCrown land reserves; • promotion of sustainable resource use and management practices by industryand the general community; • public land fire management; • water management; • ecosystem and biodiversity conservation; and • environmental and climate change policy.
