Perkinsus marinus ATCC PRA240 transcriptome

The protozoan parasites Perkinsus spp. cause Dermo disease leading to mortalities of farmed and wild bivalve populations and hence to have important detrimental economic and ecological consequences. We performed a transcriptomic analysis of a Perkinsus marinus ATCC PRA240 pure culture, grown in the absence of a host, to aid in the understanding of the parasite's biology. RNA was extracted from a culture in mid-exponential growth phase using standard Trizol purification. RNA was subjected to ribosomal RNA depletion prior to library preparation. Sequencing was carried out by Illumina HiSeq high output (125 bp PE). ?
