AFP-Pensioners survey 1993

The survey was conducted by Statistics Norway on behalf of a government-appointed committee tasked with investigating the transition from occupational activity to retirement. The committee was appointed concurrently with the revised national budget of 1993. In addition to the documentation report, there is a Fafo report: Exiting the labour market: a study of older workers, early retirement and AFP / Mary Visher and Tove Midtsundstad. This report examines early retirement among older workers following the introduction of the AFP scheme. Based on available administrative data and a dedicated survey among older workers, it describes: * Actual use of early retirement and early pension schemes, with emphasis on the relationship between AFP and the other schemes. * Expected future demand for various early retirement schemes, including the effects of a reduction in the lower age limit for AFP. * Who retires early and who chooses to continue working, and the main reasons why some people leave the labour market before the ordinary retirement age, while others choose to stay.
