Laion-coco is the world's largest 600-million-scale dataset that provides high-quality captions for publicly accessible web images. Laion-5B contains 5 billion natural captions. While it offers a vast amount of information, can synthetic captions supplement these? To address this question, we employed a combination of existing, publicly available models to generate high-quality captions for images in the style of MS COCO. Specifically, we used an ensemble of BLIP L/14 and two CLIP variants (L/14 and RN50x64) to caption 600 million images from the English subset of Laion-5B.
