Malaria infection, nutritional factors, smoking, and other potential associations with elevated umbilical artery resistance index (UARI, >90th centile) during pregnancy in PNG women In contrast to other cohorts, nutritional factors such as MUAC, height and anaemia were not associated with increased UARI. Smoking tobacco, a known risk factor for elevated UARI approached significance (PÂ =Â 0.085) while other risk behaviours, such as chewing betelnut and drinking alcohol, showed no association.
