For analytical work, use the full-resolution BFC or BFE layers. For mapping or visualisation, use the generalised BGC or BSC layers. Layer Description BFE Full Extent – Full-resolution boundaries extend to the Extent of the Realm (Low Water Mark) and are the most detailed. BFC Full Clipped – Full-resolution boundaries clipped to the coastline (Mean High Water Mark). BGC Generalised Clipped – Generalised to 20 m and clipped to the coastline (Mean High Water Mark). BSC Super Generalised Clipped – Generalised to 200 m and clipped to the coastline (Mean High Water Mark). Layer Description: Combined Authorities were introduced under the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 to enable councils in England to integrate economic development and transport functions across a functional economic area. Combined Authorities operate as public bodies with their own legal personality. They can impose a levy on constituent authorities and borrow for transport purposes.
