This study introduces a cost-effective visible-range spectrophotometer that is integrated with MATLAB-based image processing algorithms for spectral analysis. The system effectively quantifies bacterial contamination, soil nutrients, and microplastics by analyzing color variations and spectral absorbance. We developed MATLAB codes for image acquisition, color segmentation, and Tauc-plot extrapolation. Calibration with safranine samples confirmed its accuracy when compared to commercial spectrophotometers. The proposed system utilizes automated data extraction and analysis through MATLAB, providing a portable, customizable, and reliable alternative for on-site spectroscopic testing across various applications.
