Human Development Index (HDI for short) was proposed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the *1990 Human Development Report* as an indicator for measuring the socioeconomic development levels of UN member states, and it was developed as a challenge to the traditional GNP indicator. This dataset is constructed based on the official statistical data released by UNDP. To address the missing values in the original dataset, we conducted literature searches, performed data fitting and regression analyses on available records, and implemented gap-filling processing procedures. The finalized dataset covers 64+1 (China included) countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), with a time series spanning from 1990 to 2019. The coverage of participating countries will be continuously expanded as the scope of BRI partner nations expands in the future.
