The cagaiteira tree (Eugenia dysenterica DC.) is one of the native species of the Brazilian Cerrado biome of great importance as a genetic resource. This species has potential for use in agricultural production systems, thanks to its various uses besides great ecological value, for serving as food for the fauna in its regions of occurrence. Despite this, few is known about the organization and structure of the genome composition of this species. Here, we present the first draft of the E.dysenterica DC genome sequence.
